Armed Forces
At Green Paths Environmental Education CIC, we're more than just an organisation; we're a family that has walked in the boots of those we serve. With a legacy of 17 years in the armed forces, we've lived through the farewells and the homecomings, and we know the quiet strength it takes to keep going. That's why we've created a haven in the heart of nature, a place where military families can find solace and togetherness amidst the trees and under the open sky. Our programs, rooted in the wisdom of forest schools and the craft of bushcraft, are not just about learning; they're about healing, about finding peace in the rustle of leaves and the warmth of a campfire. We're here to lighten the load of service, to knit a community tight with resilience, and to nurture a love for the green earth that's as enduring as the spirit of those who defend it.
Strengthening bonds
At Green Paths, we believe that the great outdoors is not just a place to visit, but a space to connect and grow. Our youngest explorers delight in the magic of the forest, where they can touch, smell, and see nature's wonders through our forest school and bushcraft sessions. It's a world of adventure, where every leaf and log sparks curiosity. For teens craving camaraderie and challenge, our group activities are a hit. They'll light fires, cook meals under the open sky, build shelters, and craft with their hands, all while forging friendships. We're proud to honour their achievements with awards like the Nola, Junior Forest, and our own woodland warrior award, celebrating their journey with us. And for the curious at heart, our Forest Detectives program is a thrilling dive into environmental mysteries, blending science with the spirit of discovery. Join us, and let's nurture our community's bond with nature, one shared experience at a time and journey down these green paths together
Understanding serving families are unique
Being part of a military family is a unique experience that comes with its own set of challenges and strengths. Unlike civilian families, military families often deal with the constant possibility of relocation, which can mean frequent school changes for children and the need to adapt quickly to new environments, often making it hard to form lasting friendships. This can be particularly challenging for children, who may struggle with the absence of a parent due to deployment which can create a significant emotional toll, with them having to cope with the uncertainty and worry about their parent's safety. This lifestyle fosters resilience and adaptability in military children, but it also requires them to mature quickly, sometimes taking on responsibilities beyond their years. The tight-knit military community provides support, but it also means living in a world where service and sacrifice are the norm, setting these families apart from their civilian counterparts. The pride in a parent's service is coupled with the hardships of separation, creating a dichotomy that shapes the identity and experiences of military children in profound ways.
