Armed Forces
At Green Paths Environmental Education CIC, we’re more than just an organisation—we’re a community that understands the journey of military families because we are military families. With 18 years of service in the armed forces, we know the challenges, the farewells, and the quiet resilience it takes to keep moving forward. That’s why we’ve created a space in nature where military families can come together, find peace, and reconnect. Whether it’s through forest school learning or hands-on bushcraft, our programs aren’t just about gaining skills—they’re about healing, about feeling the comfort of a crackling fire and the grounding presence of the outdoors.
We’re here to lighten the weight of service, to build a strong and supportive community, and to foster a lifelong connection to the natural world—one that grows as deeply as the spirit of those who serve.
Strengthening bonds
At Green Paths, we believe the outdoors isn’t just a place to visit—it’s a space to explore, connect, and grow.
For our youngest adventurers, the forest is full of magic. Through our sessions, they get to touch, smell, and see nature up close, turning every leaf and log into a moment of discovery.
For teens seeking camaraderie and challenge, our group activities spark confidence and friendship. They’ll light fires, cook meals under the open sky, build shelters, and craft with their hands—all while forging memories that last a lifetime. We celebrate their achievements with awards like the Nola, Junior Forest, John Muir and our own Woodland Warrior Award, honouring their journey with us. And for those with a detective’s spirit, our Forest Detectives program takes a deep dive into nature’s mysteries, blending science with adventure.
Understanding serving families are unique

Being part of a military family is a unique journey, filled with both challenges and strengths. Frequent relocations mean children often have to switch schools and adjust to new environments, making it tough to form lasting friendships. The absence of a deployed parent can be emotionally difficult, bringing uncertainty and worry about their safety.
Yet, this lifestyle also fosters resilience, adaptability, and independence, with military children often stepping up in ways beyond their years. The close-knit military community provides support, but life within it is shaped by service and sacrifice. Military children take pride in their parents’ dedication, even as they navigate the hardships of separation—experiences that deeply shape who they become.
