Where the Outdoors meets Opportunity - North Devon’s top choice for Armed Forces families & SEN support.

Jon, a current serving Royal Marines Commando of nearly 18 years, has spent a lifetime honing his skills and teaching in some of the most extreme environments on Earth, from jungles, the Arctic, and vast deserts. But his love for the outdoors started much closer to home, in the woodlands of rural Essex, where his passion for Bushcraft first took root.

Now, Jon shares his deep knowledge of Bushcraft and Survival in a way that’s engaging, approachable, and practical. He sees these skills as more than just survival methods—they’re tools for resilience, problem-solving, and a deeper connection with nature. Teaching is where he finds the most joy, passing on versatile and hands-on techniques that help people feel confident outdoors.

Jon believes that learning Bushcraft at a young age isn’t just about mastering fire-making or shelter-building—it shapes the way children grow into resourceful, empowered individuals. These skills foster independence, creativity, and a lifelong relationship with the natural world, preparing them not just for the wilderness but for life’s challenges as well.
